TWO Darwin bartenders are a little shaken and stirred after placing in the top 100 of a prestigious cocktail competition.
This is the first time two Territorians have made the Top 100 of the Diageo’s Australian World Class Cocktail competition. Josie Blanchard from Lazy Susan’s and David Robinson from Hot Tamale’s won their places with original cocktails in the category of everyday celebrations.
Ms Blanchard made a pre-dinner drink called Be Our Guest using Tanqueray No. Ten gin, cold-brewed oolong tea and grapefruit.
The 12-year veteran of hospitality said her inspiration was her job, where she’s involved in everyday celebrations.
Mr Robinson created a tequila concoction using Don Julio Blanco, mango and lime.
He said the Julio Corazon was based on Darwin and mango season: “It’s about being down at the Waterfront having drinks with friends.”
